Mexico Hiking Vacations

Vacationers who have hiked the trails of New Mexico surely know why it is known as the \"Land of Enchantment.\" The panoramic mountain vistas and pure mountain streams of New Mexico truly fascinate vacationers, and compel them to come back annually for outdoor recreation and hiking. Federal and state lands, offer a number of public hiking trails and campgrounds, and a number of Indian reservations permit hiking. Usually, vacationers can drive on roads and pitch a tent in many regions of the national forests and BLM property. Hikers have to be sure their campsite is more than one-quarter mile away from shores, streambeds, trails or roads. Campers must also be in compliance with the various rules of the different agencies. It is strongly suggested that hikers check fire restrictions within each area before they arrival. There are several privately owned campgrounds in New Mexico, and details about those can be obtained from local Chambers of Commerce.
