Mexico Vacations: Top Tourist Sites in Mexico

A long time ago, there was only one place to visit in Mexico and that was Acapulco. Today there are many different resort areas in this beautiful country that will tempt you so much you will not want to return home. In addition to Acapulco, there is also Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cozumel. Lately, Cozumel has become the newest of the tourist areas in Mexico and has a reputation of being the safest.

Each of these five sites is teeming with just about everything you can imagine that will make your vacation in this country a trip of a lifetime. Mountains, tropical fish, beaches and even historical ruins abound in the country. Depending on where you stay will determine what you can expect to see during your trip. One thing that all of the resort areas have in common is that they are all filled with hundreds of first class resorts that offer every amenity known to man.

The largest resort in Mexico is still Acapulco, which is the oldest. This is the place you want to go if you want great beaches as well as a chance to go scuba diving and snorkeling. There are some of the best resorts in the world in this city and you can find both romance as well as fabulous opportunities for family vacations in Acapulco.

The next most popular tourist destination in Mexico is Cancun. Cancun has been luring tourists for about 20 years. It was really hot in the 1980s, both literally and figuratively, when the Mexican government decided to promote it as their latest tourist spot. Today, Cancun still draws the crowds and has just about something for everyone. One of the things that people tend to like about Cancun is that the Mayan ruins are nearby. If you are into history, you can really get a lot of mileage out of your trip to Cancun as there is sun, beauty, shopping, great resorts and a little mix of ancient history to boot.

Many people swear by Puerto Vallarta as the best tourist area in Mexico. Here you can also enjoy the beach, scuba diving, snorkeling and an active nightlife. There is also a lot of high end boutiques in this tourist area with some good bargains. If you like shopping, you will probably really enjoy Puerto Vallarta.

Beaches and fishing is what Mazatlan is all about. This is a bit more relaxing than the hustle and bustle of Cancun. There is also golfing available and lots of other sports as well. The fishing is really the main attraction at this port and it is one of the largest fishing ports in the world. They also give a great party for Mardi Gras each year.

Cozumel is the newest of all of the Mexican resort areas and is also known as the Coral Island. This is a place of beauty that has not yet been over built. If you enjoy watching tropical fish and nature, Cozumel is the place you want to go. In addition to the pristine beaches and clear water where you can snorkel and observe tropical fish, you can also enjoy some of the newest and most fabulous resorts in the country.

Wherever you decide to stay in Mexico, you are pretty much guaranteed to have a good time. The people are very friendly, the climate is wonderful and there is plenty to do. You also have many different accommodations from which to choose wherever you stay.
